  6. Get 1/2 tsp salt
  7. Prepare 1 cup water
Steps to make Doce de grao/ Goan doce:
  1. Wash and soak the chana dal for 2-3 hours.
  2. Boil the dal in a pressure cooker with water and salt till tender.
  3. After it boils, let it cool then grind the dal in a mixer to make a paste.
  4. Grind the dessicated coconut also and add the ground dal,sugar and coconut in a wok.
  5. Mix it well on low to medium flame for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Add cardamom powder and ghee and mix well again till the mixture comes together like a soft dough.
  7. Line a board with parchment paper and put this dough on it and put another parchment paper on top and roll it gently to 1/2 inch thickness.
  8. You can put some chopped almonds on top for garnish, roll gently again so the almonds get embedded.
  9. Let it cool a little and then cut into your choice of shapes. I cut them diagonally.
