  6. Mix the beef with half of the onion, a third of the garlic and half of the parmesan. Season to your taste with salt and pepper.
  7. Make 12-14 meatballs about the size of golf balls.
  8. Add the olive oil to a large pan on a medium heat. Once the pil is hot, add the meatballs and cook for 5 minutes or until cooked through and browned all over. Then remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
  9. Return the meatball pan to a medium-high heat and add 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the remaining garlic and onion and cook for 5 minutes or until the onion is soft.
  10. Add the tinned tomatoes to the pan, tomato paste, a large pinch of salt, half the parsley and the bay leaf.
  11. One the pasta is nearly done, remove the bay leaf from the sauce, add the remaining parsley and stir through. Season to your taste with salt and pepper. Then return the meatball to the sauce to warm through.
  12. Serve the pasta and sauce with the meatballs. Sprinkle with the remaining parmesan. Ready!!
