Instructions to make Chana dal halwa:
  1. Soak Chana dal overnight, in the morning, strain dal and keep it in a cloth for straining extra water. One can also use paper towel for dal to absorb the extra water from it. So that it becomes dry.
  2. Take a pan, add ghee and let it melt. Now add Chana dal and roast on medium flame till all water evaporates and it is slightly light in color. Take out from the pan, cool and grind in mixture grinder to a coarse powder.
  3. Fry all the nuts in ghee. Keep it aside. Now in the same pan add coarsly grounded Chana dal powder to it. Roast on slow flame. Nice aroma will come. Now add milk powder to it. Add kesar thread to it. (you can also soak in hot milk for getting nice color)Stir for 5-6 mins. Till it is incorporated in dal mixture.
  4. Add milk to it and stir nicely. Add cardamom powder and sugar to it and stir it. It will become liquid. Go on cooking on slow flame till it is thick in consistency.
  5. Add nuts and stir it. Add 1tbsp ghee to it. Stir nicely. Switch of the flame. Halwa is ready.
