The ingredients needed to make Baking fish pie:
  1. Take (Filling)2 medium size mackerel (fresh)
  2. Get 2 medium size potatoes (finely diced)
  3. Make ready 1 medium onions (finely diced)
  4. Get 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  5. Get 1 Maggi cube and little salt to taste
  6. Take 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
  7. Make ready 2 tbsp. plain flour (substitute for cornflour)
  8. Take 1 cup water
  9. Take 1 small egg

Instructions to make Baking fish pie:
  1. (Dough) 1Kg plain flour - 500g butter (500ml cooking butter) - 1/2 tsp. salt - 2 tsp. baking powder - 1 cup water (All may not be required, depending on how thick you want your dough)
  2. In a clean bowl pour and mix in the flour, salt, baking powder, then add the butter. When its all combined, start adding in the water a little at a time; until all the flour mix come together. Rap the dough in a cling film or in a nylon carrier, then place in the fridge for about an hour… can be left for longer if preferred. - - * clean out the mackerel and cook for 6mins without any salt. When it all cooked, drain out the excess water, let the fish cool down then debone the fish.
  3. Place oils in a frying pan, put in the tomatoes, onions and potatoes let it cook for a 5mins, then add in the water, maggi, pepper and salt… cover and let it cook. This is necessary as the potatoes needs to cook until very soft, this may take up to 20mins, it all depends on the potatoes used.. When the potatoes is all cooked, add in your fish, taste (add more salt if need) and finally add in the flour to thicken the sauce. Cook leave for extra 3mins… then leave to chill
  4. . preheat the oven to 250 degree Celsius. Bring out the dough, knead for 2mins, roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about 4mm thickness, with a round plate cut out circles - - Scoop in 1 1/2 tbsp. of the filing on to the dough, dab edges with whisked egg.. then fold into half, with a fork press all around the folded edge.
  5. Place the pies on a baking tray (use grease proof lining), glaze with the whisked eggs and bake for 30mins or till gold brown. Serve hot or warm enjoy
