Mincemeat Pie has been my favorite holiday pie since I was a little girl (that was awhile ago). My grandmother used to make her own homemade mincemeat. This French-Canadian meat pie is hearty, satisfying, easy to make, visually impressive, relatively affordable, and since it's best served at room temperature, doesn't require any kind of precise timing. Nothing warms you up like a rich pie, loaded with meat, vegetables and gravy.

Instructions to make Meaty meat pie:
  1. In a bowl sift the flour,add the salt,sugar and baking powder then give it a quick stir.crack in the eggs and add in the butter.use both hands to give it a thorough mix,until a crumb like texture is achieved.add cold water bit by bit to form a dough. Knead well to achieve a soft dough.cover for 15-30mins.
  2. In a large pan heat the oil,add the onion,ginger and garlic pastes. Stir fry till the raw smell is out.add the minced beef and stir continuously till the beef changes color to brown.sprinkle some salt,add the seasoning cubes,curry,thyme and turmeric.mix well.
  3. Add the carrot and potatoes and stir.add about a cup of water,stir well and cover to cook until all the water is absorbed.allow to cool completely.
  4. Knead the dough for 30 seconds.make some small balls of equal sizes. Roll out each dough flat (round),add the filling and then cover. Use a fork to press the edges to avoid opening while baking.arrange in a lined baking tray,apply some beaten eggs using a pastry brush on the pies. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown.
