  1. Make ready 1 cup matar/white peas
  2. Make ready to taste Salt
  3. Take 3 tbsp oil
  4. Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
  5. Make ready 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  6. Take 2 finely chopped tomatoes
  7. Take 1 chopped onion
  8. Get 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  9. Prepare 1 tsp red chilli powder
  10. Prepare 1 tsp dhania powder
  11. Get 1 tsp cumin powder
  12. Take 1 tsp garam masala
  13. Get For assembly
  14. Make ready as needed Green chutney
  15. Take As needed Tamarind chutney
  16. Make ready As required Red chilli powder

  19. Take as needed Finely chopped coriander leaves

This chaat goes well with any Indian bread and on streets, it is sold along with kulcha. Matar chaat is one of the popular street food of North India especially in Delhi and Amritsar. Peas are soaked, boiled, tempered with Indian spices and then garnished with onion, tomatoes and green chilies. Instructions to make Matar chaat:
  1. Soak the matar /White peas with water overnight.
  2. Remove water after soaking.
  3. Boil the matar in pressure cooker, close the lid and cook it on medium flame until 3/4 whistles.
  4. Turn off the flame and let it cool.
  5. Take a kadhai, add oil, hing, cumin seeds, green chili, chopped onions and saute on medium flame.
  6. Then add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomatoes and saute until the oil separate..
  7. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and saute until the oil separates.
  8. Then add cooked matar, salt mix well and cooked.
  9. Cook on low flame for 5minutes.
  10. Turn off the flame afterthick consistency.
  11. Add garam masala and mix well.
  12. Place the matar curry on a plate.
  13. Top it with green chutney, tamarind chutney, chat masala, blacksalt, black pepper powder, grated coconut, chopped onions, whisked curd, papdi, sev, chopped green chili, and chopped coriander leaves.
  14. Matar chat is ready to eat.
