Instructions to make Dal pakwan:
  1. Soak chana dal for 1 hour in water. After one our separate the dal from water and boil it in pressure cooker by adding dal, 2 glass of water and turmeric powder upto 3 whistles on medium flame.
  2. After 3 whistles switch off the flame and let the cooker cools down completely. Prepare tadka for dal by heating oil in a pan and adding jeera, curry leaves, hing and chopped tomatoes. Put red chilli powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, amchur powder, jaggery and salt in tomato masala.
  3. Put the boiled dal in tomato masala, mix it well on medium flame. Add garam masala and chopped coriander leaves in it. Mix it once and switch off the flame. Dal is ready.
  4. For pakwan dough mix all the pakwan ingredients together in a kneading bowl. Mix it once and add 1 cup water and knead a tight dough.
  5. Grease rolling board with little oil, take a small ball shaped dough, roll it round and make pricks in between with the help of fork. Make all the pakwans as the same way. Heat the oil in a pan. Deep fry the pakwans until golden brown.
  6. Serve dal and pakwan with green chutney, tamarind chutney and chopped onion on top of dal.
