  1. Make ready 1 medium size yam tuber

  13. Take 1 mackerel fish
  14. Get 1 lemon
  15. Make ready Water as required
  16. Make ready Bunch spinach (chopped)

Instructions to make Asaro/ Yam Porridge:
  1. Cut and wash the fish with 1 lemon juice. Rinse and pat dry
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Season and fry the fish. Drain and set aside
  3. Add same veg. oil in a cooking pot mix with little palm oil if you desire. Add the crushed garlic fry till fragnant and add your blended pepper mixture. Fry for few minutes
  4. Add tomato paste and fry
  5. Add your seasonings and spices. Fry for 3 min
  6. Add your stock or water enough to cook the yam
  7. Add ground crayfish cover pot and bring to boil
  8. Now, add your washed diced yams to the boiling pot and cook till soft or tender
  9. De bone your fish and add
  10. Finally add your chopped vegetable. Adjust salt and seasoning if necessary. Mash the yams to your preference. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 3min
  11. Serve hot and enjoy your plate of goodness
  12. Note: you can add any protein of choice, like offals or kpomo. You can as well use other vegetables like pumpkin leaves, parsley, moringa, curry leaves or scent leaves. You can as well serve with friend plantain if you wish or eat as it is. Enjoy!
