Other names for akara include beans cake and Kosai, beans fritters. Akara is just one of the simplest recipes you can fix for breakfast without much waste of time, and you can even make akara recipe. Nigerians will know these golden bean cakes or fritters as akara or kosai, depending on where you are from. Koose (kosai, akara, akla) is made from ground cowpeas or black-eyed peas.

The ingredients needed to make Kosai (akara):
  1. Take 250 g beans
  2. Take 1 large onion
  3. Prepare 2-3 scotch bonnets
  4. Prepare 1 red capsicum
  5. Take 1 sachet Ajino motto
  6. Take 1 sachet Onga seasoning
  7. Take to taste Salt
  8. Get Seasoning grounded pepper (yaji)

It's usually made from Black eyed Akara, which is also known as black-eyed peas fritters or Acaraje, is a very delicious. Vigna unguiculata (known as black-eyed peas in America; usually called cowpeas in English-speaking Africa; also called china beans, and black-eyed beans) are native to Asia, the Middle East, and perhaps Africa. Akara is a Nigerian gastronomic speciality, already exported to other countries, not only in Africa but also in Brazil. In northern Nigeria, it is also known as kosai.

Steps to make Kosai (akara):
  1. Soak beans for like 10mins then you Wash beans throughly, wash onions,scotch bonnets,and red capsicum,cut and add to the beans,grind it by taking it to the grinding machine,water should'nt be added to much while grinding!
  2. Beat grinded beans using a local scooper(ludayi),add ajino motto and onga,then salt,keep beating the beans for a smooth and fluffy akara !
  3. Scoop grinded beans batter and Fry in hot oil,till bothsides are looking red,serve hot with seasoning grounded pepper(yaji),also you can serve by attaching kosai to kebab stick for attraction,enjoy!
