  2. Wash the Toor dal and pressure cook the dal with finely chopped tomatoes, salt, turmeric powder, water and few drops of oil to 3-4 whistles.
  3. Meanwhile divide dough in 2 equal big balls. Roll out the dough ball to big and slightly thick circle. Now cut dhoklis into your desired shapes. Diamonds(Burfi) shapes are easier.
  4. Keep aside the dhoklis. Now prepare tadka. In a pan, heat oil. Add mustard seeds and curry leaves and green chillis let it crackle. Add crushed hing, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and saute for 2 mins. Add cooked dal to this tadka.
  5. Add 2 more cups of water, tamarind paste or lemon juice, jaggery and some more salt to taste. Bring to a boil, then start adding dhoklis to Dal. Keep stirring so that dhoklis won't stick to one another. Simmer for 10-15 mins or till the dhoklis are cooked well. Garnish with coriander leaves and enjoy hot with ghee!
